THE FOREST OF EVERGREEN BROADLEAVES WITH KOYMARIES IN SAPIENTZA ISLAND
Sapientza is an island south of Methoni, at which a marvel of nature is maintained intact; the unique, in the Mediterranean area, forest of koumaries. It is constituted by trees, whose height exceeds that of 10 meters, while their age is calculated 10.000 years old. The forest has been declared preservable monument of nature since 1986. The visitor of Sapientza also has the chance to witness an unprecedented spectacle, the valley of pollen, named Spartolakka; a peculiar rock formation that was shaped by enormous quantities of pollen that were accumulated there.

In the municipality of Voufrados, just 32 km away from Kalamata, 15 hidden beautiful lakes, with gorges and waterfalls, create a unique microcosmos, which is surrounded by olive groves and vines. The small gorges, the rich vegetation and the stunning waterfalls will turn a 3km medium difficulty walk, into an unprecendented experience!

Voidokoilia is the most famous beach of Messenia. The area is both a protected archaeological site and a biotope, therefore unexploited and free of human intervention. A round gulf, with fine white sand and spotless green-blue waters.
